A striking extension at Colchester Leisure World features curtain wall systems from Senior Architectural Systems (SAS).
Designers NPS Group specified SAS’ aluminium ‘SCW+’ curtain walling systems and SD commercial doors for the project. They were manufactured and installed by SAS approved fabricator Jarrolds.
According to SAS, the SCW+ systems are thermally enhanced, with large thermal barriers and high performance gaskets, which will assist the facility’s heat retention and environmental performance. The systems can be fabricated into ladders for more efficient installation on-site.
The extension, part of a £1.1m four-phase project to improve the centre and led by main contractor Cadman Construction, features a new coffee shop and entrance lobby, making a high-quality finish pivotal to the systems.
SAS’ curtain walling systems were installed at full height on the two main elevations. SAS and Jarrolds consulted to complete the prominent corner of the main entrance. The screens are capped and meet at a tip to create a ‘fin’ shaped extension, bringing an ocean-theme and feel to the leisure centre.
