Lyma, the medtech company most well-known for its cold laser technology, is strengthening its portfolio in other wellness market categories by creating a gut-health optimisation supplement and its first retail skincare range not specifically designed to be used alongside its laser system.

The Lyma ID2 is a gut health powder supplement is the second supplement in Lyma’s diversified range of retail products, following the company’s first product launch in 2018, the Lyma Supplement.

Lyma ID2 is a gut bio complex that combines multi-length prebiotics to feed and fortify each of the four major sections of the colon. It also includes Omega-3 and polyphenols for brain, heart and eye health. The formula also contains twenty-five bioavailable chelated minerals and vitamins (where an organic molecule is bound to the mineral to prevent the mineral from reacting with other compounds found in the stomach).

The company’s director of science, Professor Paul Clayton, explains the difference between Lyma ID2 and other gut health supplements on the market. He says those already on sale feed only one chamber of the colon with probiotics that don’t come with enough prebiotics to keep them alive.

He said: “Most probiotic supplements don't contain any prebiotics at all and if they do it's nowhere near enough. As a result, once you've swallowed them, the bacteria can't stick around. They can't colonise and have an effect. It's not that the product is broken. It's simply incomplete. A probiotic without prebiotics is not a gut supplement at all. It's actually a waste of your time and money."

"You can take the right mineral in the wrong form for many years and never close the gap between the amount you should have and the amount you're actually getting. The form matters just as much as the dose. For example, a lot of magnesium supplements use magnesium oxide, which means absorption isn't that good. This is not unique to magnesium. The same problem occurs across almost the entire mineral complex."

SoulCycle

Lyma has also partnered with SoulCycle, the US fitness and wellness brand, with six initial events planned across the US and the UK to market the Lyma ID2 supplement.

These activations will include Lyma’s first SoulCycle pop-up studio at its HQ in Marylebone in London in August for its employees and community.

Lyma Power Skincare

Lyma has also introduced a retail range of skincare products informed by epigenetic science and designed in collaboration with plastic surgeons and longevity scientists.

The products include a trademarked formula called Genolytic, which is described by the brand as a “multi-pathway system that targets dehydration, barrier breakdown, oxidative stress, microbiome disruption and the loss of structural integrity.”

The company says these are the five axes along which skin ages visibly.

There are two formulations within the new range: The Power Youth Serum and the Power Youth Cream.

The Power Youth Serum uses a dual-peptide complex, microalgae-derived exosome-inspired technology, probiotic proteins and a hyaluronic system.

The Power Youth Cream incorporates eight active ingredients, such as bakuchiol, ergothioneine, SNAP-8 peptide, L22 biomimetic lipids and multi-weight hyaluronic acids.
